Always had a love of Italian murrini and micromosaics. For years, I collected any kind of Italian murrini I could find. Often planned to use them in larger mosaics I created but mostly - they were so pretty I'd just leave them on my shelf and admire their beauty or put them in small jewelry creations.

When I started creating micromosaics - I wasn't happy with the limited availability of filati in north america, so started learning how to use a flameworking torch to melt glass and pulled my own. Soon realized I could also create my own murrini and fell down a wonderful path of creating new and unique murrini designs. This was a passion for me, an ultimate love and challenge as I worked up from abstract designs to complex faces. I absolutely loved my time on the torch and making these creations - putting them in the kiln - then the anticipation of cutting it open when it was done annealing and seeing if it turned out as I'd hoped. It was one of the best feelings of my life.

I'd always planned to use these murrini in micromosaics or jewelry (or just look at them too...). But life changed and I am no longer able to create new murrini or do micromosiacs anymore. They sat on my self for a long while, and then I suddenly realized.... Apparently the plan was, that I was not meant to make these murrini for me to use - but for other talented people to use in their work! So they are being made available for sale here on Etsy - along with other lampworking and micromosaic supplies. Hopefully these items will get to be used in other talented artists works!!
